The Silver Jubilee Bridge, opened on 21 July 1961, spans the river Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal at Runcorn Gap. It is used by in the order of 100,000 cars a day and is a major arterial route for traffic in the north west of England.
The purpose of this iPhone App is to give drivers an indication of traffic conditions on and around the bridge. There are six web cams available, two on the Runcorn side, two on the Widnes side and two in Ditton.
Both the approaches to the bridge and the bridge itself are covered by the web cams.
(Please note that it is illegal to use mobile phones in the UK whilst driving and this app is intended to be only used whilst it is legal to do so.)
